Brad Habegger, Executive Director
Background
Brad grew up in Morton, IL, and graduated from Morton High School in 1998. He then attended Taylor University where he earned a degree in Christian Education. Brad's involvement at Camp of Champions includes experience as a Counselor (1999), Site Director (2000) and full-time Program Director (2002-2005). In August of 2005, he was asked to become the Executive Director, following Nate Rugaard's move to Peoria Christian School. One of Brad's favorite things about his job is getting to simply talk with campers and hear their "wisdom" and wit.
Brad and his wife, Cali, were married in September of 2004. Cali enjoys helping out at Camp, but she also works as a sign language interpreter at Illinois State University. Brad and Cali also have two daughters.
Brad loves sports. He enjoys playing basketball, softball and tennis. He also really likes watching college basketball and following the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to sports, Brad enjoys reading good books and serving at his church.
Peter "Pheaney" Lindell, Regional Director
Background
"Pheaney" grew up in central Illinois and worked at Camp as a summer staff member from 2000 to 2003. After graduating from college in 2004 he has been with Camp full-time. He enjoys camp because it is always changing. This brings new challenges and opportunities every day.
Pheaney and his wife, Brittany, met at Camp of Champions in 2000 and were married in 2004. Today they live in Pekin where Brittany is a full-time stay-at-home mom. She takes care of Jackson, Adrian, Espen & Kelton (not pictured). Pheaney fully realizes that with four boys, Brittany works way harder than he does!
Pheaney enjoys spending time with family and brainstorming new and better ways to make disciples. He also enjoys rooting for the Vikings, writing and thinking (just not too hard). If you want to know more about what goes on inside his brain, check out www.pheaney.com or his Facebook profile.
Chris "Bacon" Miller, Regional Director
Chris has spent a majority of his life in the great town of Eureka, IL. He graduated from Eureka High School in 2004 and continued on to Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from there with an Advanced Biblical Studies degree in 2008. Chris' involvement at Camp of Champions includes experience as a Junior Counselor (2000-01), Counselor (2002-04), and Site Director (2005-2008). Chris then joined the Full-Time Staff in the fall of 2008. What Chris loves about Camp of Champions is the assemblies, where campers sing songs and learn about God.
Family
Chris and his wife, Emily, were married in November of 2011. Emily enjoys helping out at Camp, but she also works as a teacher's aid.
Chris loves being active and playing any sort of game. Church softball, golf, and basketball are some of the activities he enjoys playing. He also enjoys watching sports and loves cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. To learn more about what is happening in his life check out Camping With Chris.
Kayla Phillips, Ministry Coordinator
Background
Kayla grew up in a suburb of Kansas City. After graduating from high school in 2004, she attended Calvary Bible College completing her undergraduate work in 2008, majoring in Secondary English Education and Bible. Kayla worked her first summer at Camp of Champions in 2008 as a counselor, and then as a counselor and site director in 2009. In September of 2009 she joined Camp full-time as the Ministry Coordinator.
Hobbies
Aside from Camp, Kayla coaches 7th grade girls' basketball at Peoria Christian School. She also enjoys art, coffee, good books, and running.
